Title: Realizing for 1st time what our son has Post by: Bigdre on December 08, 2017, 12:25:40 PM Hello
Our 20 year old has these traits. Not as bad as I have read it can be but enough to disrupt our family and his whole life. Anyone out there w child adopted from Russia at 6months and living w this? There is so much to write but I’ll start here. Title: Re: Realizing for 1st time what our son has Post by: Huat on December 09, 2017, 11:28:00 AM Hello Bigdre.
Although my story is not yours, I welcome you. While all our stories here are different, there are similarities in that we are dealing with the behaviours associated with those who exhibit BPD traits. I can only imagine your history. You made the decision to reach out and bring a needy child from a different country into your family... .showering him with the same love you would have given to a biological child. Heart-warming, to say the least. You probably had little-or-no information about his biological background nor any real knowledge on what he experienced from life between birth and the time you got him at 6 months old. It is good to read that you are finding his traits are "not as bad as I have read"... .and oh so true when you write that his behaviours can disrupt family life... .and his life. All of us here can relate to that! So, you have certainly come to the right spot for help/support. Little changes might make a difference on how life will unfold for him... .for you... .for the family. I point |---> to the information on the right to get you started on making changes. Hope to read more of your posts, Bigdre. Whatever you write gives food-for-thought for some others. In turn, you will find a lot of support coming your way. Always nice to know we are not alone when we face those difficulties life can throw at us. Once again, welcome! Huat |
