Title: My daughter and BPD
Post by: Charlie16 on January 20, 2018, 04:02:52 PM
My daughter was recently diagnosed with traits of BPD. She is 21.
4suicude attempts in 3 years, alcohol addiction, drugs, self harm, eating disorder and aggressive behaviour. Everything is out in the open now after she hid muchbofcthis behaviour. She has been hospitalised and in a private clinic over past 3 months and is now waiting to enter a rehab facility for addiction.
She is bright, beautiful, self aware, caring, intelligent, yet has no self esteem.
My husband and I are exhausted, anxious and have had no social lives since this started.
She lives at home with us. She was a nursing student till recently and has decided to take a year off to get well.
She has also recently started a relationship with a boy she met in hospital who has his own MH issues but they seem to support each other st this stage.
That’s about it.

Hi Charlie16,

Oh wow, that's a lot to go through in 3 years. I'm so sorry for the suffering that brings you here, and glad you found the site.

You must be proud of her that she wants to get well. That's not always the case, sometimes it takes a long time before a person suffering from BPD will accept help and treatment.

Did she do any DBT while in the private clinic? Has she tried to stop drinking and doing drugs on her own?

What kind of wait do you expect for the rehab clinic?
