Title: My BPD is literally giving my things to his newest 'flavor of the week'
Post by: TruLove on February 03, 2018, 05:24:28 AM
We started out being friends. For 5years we were close, even working together at a local bat for three years. I never saw any red flags and that's what gets me the most. I'm a Social Work major, have worked at a domestic violence shelter and thought I was a good judge of character. We were platonic friends until 2.5yrs ago I went against my better judgement. It's been a roller coaster to say the least. I'm emotionally a strong person but I'm finding it harder and harder not to stoop to his level.

Hi, TruLove!  Welcome.  These emotionally intense relationships can, indeed, feel like a roller coaster ride.  Check out the links on the right side of this page for more info and support.  >>

Are you still in the relationship, or has your partner moved on to "flavor of the week?"

Hi TruLove,

I hear ya! I never thought I'd be in such a situation either. I thought I could spot an abuse, but somehow as you are living it... .it can really sneak up on ya! I would not call my "h" an abuser, but he certainly does things that amount to abuse in effect - and that's what matters. One of the hardest parts is unraveling it all and just getting a clear look it.

When you look back now do see red flags you missed? What makes you suspect BPD/BPD traits now?

wishing you peace, pearl.

Hi TruLove,

*welcome*

I'd like to join the others and welcome you to the site. I'm sorry that you're going through this the idealization phase with a pwBPD can feel powerful, not to mention how quickly things can move sometimes we gp against our better judgement. Many of us here can relate to that.

A pwbPD know how to push our buttons and they'll push all of them at once. Can you give us a little bit more detail?
