Title: Out of control 4th grader
Post by: blibra on February 07, 2018, 07:58:07 AM
I am working with a 4th grader who has ADHD, ODD, and possibly borderline personality disorder. I need some suggestions on the exercises to use with him while at school.

Hi blibra

Dealing with children who might have disorders like this can be challenging indeed.

Has this child been officially diagnosed with ADHD and ODD?

What leads you to believe he possibily has BPD? Professionals are usually quite reluctant to diagnose young children with this disorder. What traits do you see in him leading you to suspect BPD?

He is compliant for a short while, then in a fraction of a second, he is volatile, disrespectful, racing throughout the hallway.

Do you see any specific triggers to these shifts in his behavior? How long have you been working with him and did he always behave this way or is this a recent change you see?

Do you have any other pupils who behave in a similar manner?
