Title: My BLPD 19 is in treatment for Xanax addiction Post by: Daisy123 on February 11, 2018, 03:09:16 PM Hi Folks,
At present my daughter decided to seek rehab for Xanax addiction. She has a drug use disorder with pot as well. I just found out that she has prostituted herself for drugs. We are in the process of convincing her to go into a recovery home. She swears we are trying to get rid of her. I just want her to have more time than just 30 days of sobriety. They are recommending high levels of step down, php and IOP. She needs so much. December was hell for my husband and I as we had to take turns being home. DD has strong suicide ideation - something we take seriously as she’s had 4 attempts. Don’t know what to do. Am terrified of her coming home and having it start all over again. How much time is recommended for a recovery home, I'm wondering is your daughter maybe facing fears of abandonment when she says you are 'trying to get rid of her'? It's also a scary position for her to take this step to help herself. It's wonderful your daughter decided to seek rehab for her addiction and I understand you are terrified 30 days may not be enough, the thought of having to start it all over again. I hear your desperation, I've been there wanting to throw everything at it I possibly could. I've learnt to work with my DD at her pace, she's made the decisions, she's doing the work, I've provided her emotional support and a loving, calm home environment. She started with alcohol counselling, moved on to DBT, where they firstly treated her for suicide ideation, following attempts. It's great your daughter is reaching out to you for support, talking to you, this is a huge step. Stay with us Daisy123, that's how I've come through this in one piece, thanks to the wonderful support of parents here and the learning resources that are second to none! Hugs to you WDx Title: Re: My BLPD 19 is in treatment for Xanax addiction Post by: Daisy123 on February 12, 2018, 07:10:51 AM Thank you Wendy for your words of support. I am new to this - she was diagnosed in late October with BPD and major depression. She was originally diagnosed with bipolar. So I am doing as much reading as I can based on this site’s lessons and videos. To be quite honest, I’m overwhelmed at the gravity of BPD. Everything from executive functioning to anxiety, constantflight or fight to being so sensitive to tone, body language and words- What she goes through with this diagnosis is tremendous! I am trying to walk in her shoes so that I have a deeper
Understanding of all this drama. And then... .I feel like I’m constantly putting my foot in my mouth because I’ve worded something wrong or had an agenda I wasn’t aware of till the words fall out of my mouth. This is a new way of communicating and wow! Does it take a great deal of thought. I have many questions Thanks again. D123 |
