Title: Attempting to get my granddaughter medical attention parents ignore her
Post by: Star Showers on February 15, 2018, 03:09:26 PM
My son and his ex both have BPD.  They have refused in the
Past to get my granddaughter needed help.  I initiated action for that problem thru court action.  Now son & his ex hate me.  I noticed some medical issues with
Granddaughter I believe she is very afraid of her parents.  She told her mother of
The problem and it has been ignored.  My granddaughter confides in me and doesn’t want me to tell things to her parents.  BTW. They will not talk to me because of the legal action I took in the past.  I am very scared that this situation isn’t being addressed by her parents.  I need to keep her trust.  The only recourse I know is to file a legal emergency petition for medical care.  Are there other options?  I am not able to have a reasonable conversation with either of them they consider my concerns as criticism.  Any help is appreciated

Hi Star Showers

Thank you for posting your questions. I'm really glad that you are an advocate for your granddaughter. I'm sorry for all the stress this situation must be, not only for you but also for your granddaughter. While I don't have any background as far as the legalities of what you can do, your being available to her is quite huge. Hopefully some of the other members will have some ideas.

Have your family members been diagnosed with BPD? What are the custody arrangements for her and how old is she?

Wools

How old is she? Can you encourage her to talk to a school counselor (a mandatory reporter, though in wouldn't tell that to gd)?  What is the nature of the medical care?
