Title: How to reconnect
Post by: MissingLinda on March 05, 2018, 06:40:30 PM
Hello,
Many years ago, for a few decades, my sister was my best friend.  As time evolved, she separated from her husband, was diagnosed with BPD, did not believe it, has eventually become estranged from her adult children and me.  She does not believe she has any issues, nor does my mother, who views her as her best friend, and seems overly involved or invested in this “child who is always kicked in the teeth”.  Don’t know what to do.  Any input greatly appreciated.

Hi MissingLinda!

  Welcome to our online family!

It's especially hard to watch someone we love go down a path that is so unhealthy. How sad to know that your S has become so estranged from her family, including you. I'm very sorry.

Here is a link to an article that may shed some light on the situation you mentioned:

Anosognosia and Getting a "Borderline" into Therapy (https://bpdfamily.com/content/how-to-get-borderline-into-therapy)

Does she live far away from you? Do you ever have contact with her?

Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Hi MissingLinda,

I'd like to join Wools and say Welcome!

My question is what do you want in terms of your relationship with your sister?  What is your relationship currently like?  What are the biggest issues in relation to your sister?  Do you have a relationship with your sister's kids?

Okay that was more than just one question  :), I'm just trying to get more of a feel for your situation.

I look forward to hearing more of your story.

Take Care,
