Title: Alternative therapy Post by: lostandconfused6 on March 20, 2018, 03:21:16 PM I have been reading a lot into reiki, hypnosis, and past life regression... .Does anyone have any experience with these? How do you feel they might benefit or harm someone with BPD?
Also i feel i may benefit from it also to let go of the "other girl" situation. Title: Re: Alternative therapy Post by: engineer on March 20, 2018, 04:23:37 PM Seconding the request for experience on these... .
My wife has expressed an interest in *all three* of those, and I have been thinking about pursuing them for the potential benefit for both of us. My wife has expressed an interest in *all three* of those, and I have been thinking about pursuing them for the potential benefit for both of us. My BPDbf has expressed interest in these also, unfortunately i feel like it's for different reasons than i want it for. He keeps talking about getting motivation and drive from it... .i want him to get it to get out of his own way when it comes to us... .he adds so much more stress than needed when it comes to us and it kills me Title: Re: Alternative therapy Post by: Tattered Heart on March 21, 2018, 12:02:41 PM I don't know if any real studies have been done on the effect of any of these alternative treatments. There's some really hokey stuff out there that could lead to more damage being done than good.
I also think there are some alternative treatments that I've seen work very well with my H although I would not recommend those treatments to others because some are quite illegal and the others are just anecdotal. Title: Re: Alternative therapy Post by: Jessica84 on March 21, 2018, 01:09:16 PM I would think there is a danger of bringing up old wounds and emotions to the surface. Not sure how a pwBPD would handle that.
For relaxation (or addressing specific issues of my own), I have googled youtube videos and listened as I fall asleep. I've looked up "forgiveness meditation", "how to let go", "anxiety", "healing from past" etc. There are some good hypnosis videos as well. These are helpful, soothing... .and free. My BPDbf smokes weed from time to time and it helps him in some ways in other ways it hurts him... .he is just so all over the place and has such a lack of routine and time management Title: Re: Alternative therapy Post by: lostandconfused6 on March 21, 2018, 02:03:52 PM I would think there is a danger of bringing up old wounds and emotions to the surface. I will look into those thank you... . My therapist has mentioned before that my BPDbf needs to confront his past because he dwells on it so much and he feels so much of it,especially with his family, has nurtured BPD into him but i dont know if any of these alternative treatments will be best... .i'm going to check into it tomorrow with my therpaist... .i just didn't know if anyone had any personal experience with it |
