Title: BPD / HPD job in sales jobs with men
Post by: Curious12 on March 26, 2018, 12:53:16 PM
Keep noticing confirmed BPD / HPD's having similar jobs.

I have only known 5 girls in my life that I know are diagnosed. Two work as men's clothes retail sales person and other two are men's hair stylist. (other is a doctor). Why do 4 out of 5 work in similar jobs as sales/stylist to men?

Is this coincidence or do they thrive on flirting, attention, meeting new guys, etc?

Thoughts?

I think it has more to do with the limited and fleeting exposure to their customers in those jobs as opposed to the 9-5 grind of seeing and reporting to the same people all day long. Basically, they don't play well with others, and the more they are around others the more chance for blowups and drama.

Both my exes were sales reps in male dominated industries. However, my first started out as a clinical nutritionist and my second ex was in the beauty industry for many years working a female dominated side of it. Neither of them were office types in the least.

Interesting you were 2 for 2 in sales jobs with men. That makes 6 out of 7

They all had trouble with co-workers and changed companies frequently within their industry. So I think you are on to something. It is easy to be fake for a 10 min sales job... .but harder to get along with co-workers, boss, etc on a daily basis.

I don't think

That's a lot! I don't know anyone in real life with a diagnosis.

Curious to hear from others.

I know one person with a diagnosis, the one I came here to get support with.

He was self-employed.  He definitely would not have been able to handle an office job.  He had difficulty with time management and often had customers "after" him to complete unfinished jobs.  He rarely had repeat customers which over time obviously made his living difficult as it impacted his earning ability.
