Title: Anyone know about conflict of interest regarding legal firms? Post by: toomanydogs on April 13, 2018, 09:22:07 PM Got a question that I'm actually in the process of asking a friend who's a lawyer, but that may be delayed.
So... . The firm that represents my STBX's trust in all this has a lawyer, who is considered "of counsel." This "of counsel" lawyer "represented" me on the prenup. (Put represented in quotes because in retrospect he did a really bad job re: spousal support and retirement benefits) Seems to me that since that lawyer is "of counsel" and he represented me, that should be a conflict of interest. Anyone know? TMD Title: Re: Anyone know about conflict of interest regarding legal firms? Post by: ForeverDad on April 15, 2018, 09:51:37 PM Prenup laws vary by state. Either do an internet search for your state's rules or consult a lawyer. My understanding was that a prenup required separate legal representation but my quick search indicates that's not the law in all states.

Post by: Newyoungfather on April 15, 2018, 10:09:58 PM I know in my state of PA a legal firm can not represent the opposing clients. I found this out when I wanted to hire my attorney from a big box law firm and they had me give the opposing parties full name, address, etc.

Anytime I've even asked for a consultation, I have to give my name & my STBX to rule out conflict. TMD |
