Title: HELP: looking for BPD Rehab (daughter has dual diagnosis BPD & Addict) Post by: Avicii on April 24, 2018, 10:04:14 AM Hello,
My daughter is an Instagram "celebrity" with about 100K followers and is goth. She goes by her Instagram name and gets attention this way. She tends to polarize people in conservative rehab centers. I am trying to find a center that will not emphasize the 12 steps - handing over the addiction to a "higher power" because she ends up attacking Christianity for it's problems rather than focusing on the work of recovery. I am also trying to find a center that will give her more personalized and professional help with functioning in life. Instagram will take her only so far. She's dropped out of college and is misfiring - getting increasingly impulsive with drugs and it's been so hard watching her fall apart. She has a cat and I have seen some rehabs allow pets, which would be great for her. She loves animals so I am thinking a working ranch that helps people with BPD would be perfect. I live in California and we are looking at a place called Clearview in Venice Beach but I am not sure this carnival like area of CA is good for her identity issues. Maybe getting back to the country and nature would be better too. She's 21 so I'll have her read about them too but any suggestions you have would be great. Thanks! I'm so sorry, it's so darn hard to watch our kids fall apart there is hope, my 29DD's come through the worst, so hang in there and with us, you are not alone . I'm in the UK, so no personal experience of centres to pass to you. Are you focusing on your state or looking further a field too? I think it's great you've laid out criteria to help your search, my DD would definitely be attracted to ranch/animal setting, that would be a huge draw in her helping herself. Have you spoken to any of the centres you've come across so far? How are you coping Avicii, do you have support of a family member, friend? Welcome again, I'm glad you found us. Thank you for your reply. I do have my Mother who is 86 as well as friends. What stinks is my ex-husband is a recovering alcoholic and called my daughter when she was in rehab black out drunk. He relapsed at a terrible time. Anyways, the pain of addiction is one which requires a high pain threshold not only for the addict but the people they love. I appreciate the friendship. I think we've found a great residential community for her so we're heading there today. Best, A Title: Re: HELP: looking for BPD Rehab (daughter has dual diagnosis BPD & Addict) Post by: wendydarling on April 29, 2018, 06:52:21 AM Hi Avicci
That sounds hopeful, how did the trip to the residential go, any luck? Woah, what a terrible time, your ex calling your daughter in rehab during his relapse. I'm sorry you're dealing with this, your daughter is trying, engaging in treatment. How's your day been today?
