Title: Such a Challenge
Post by: Sorrento on April 26, 2018, 02:59:46 PM
I have two daughters who are close in age.  The older one has BPD.  The siblings have a hard time with each other and I have a hard time when they are together. The younger one accuses me of being too nice when I try to work through the behaviors of her sister. How do I explain to her, that the older one has serious emotional issues that cannot be addressed in the normal ways?

Sorry to hear this, I'm sure it's not how you pictured it.  Sounds like you're doing the right thing and can't really show your younger daughter why right now.  But at least you're showing her how.  At some point she will want to learn the skills you're mastering, just keep on keeping on.  She will probably want to find a way to get along with her sister.  You're showing her how.

How's today going?

Hello Sorrento, welcome!

Sorry to hear that you are struggling with your two daughters at the moment, I understand how important it is to you for your daughters to get on and for you to be able to explain your older daughters behaviour to your younger daughter. What ages are your daughters? Do you think that your younger daughter will be able to take on board what you want to tell her?
