Title: I am not alone I am not alone
Post by: NewAttitude on May 17, 2018, 10:18:59 PM
Hello,

I just found this website after searching to find "my people".

People who know and can relate to what it's like to live with someone that you care about that has a personality disorder.

My person that I care about is my step daughter. She has BPD traits. Her therapist thinks she may have "mixed personality disorder". Being a teenager still, she's 16, her therapist can't diagnose her with a personality disorder yet.

I feel very alone in my struggles with my step daughter. I am her primary caregiver. Her father, my husband, works away from home and is only home on the weekends.

I am looking for people who can at the very least help me to feel that I am not alone, and who also may be able to give me some guidance.

Welcome to you, NewAttitude

Nope, you are not alone.  Not that it takes away your problem to know that... .but kind of comforting, huh?

Being the primary caregiver during the most part of a week to a any teenager is indeed a challenge.  Then to be the caring Step Mom must throw in a few more challenges.  My hat goes off to you!

It is good to read that your step daughter is seeing a therapist.  Are you and/or your husband included in this therapy?

So, hope to hear more from you, NewAttitude... .and must say that, from experience, I have found that "attitude" has a lot to do with moving forward... .or having the situation stay the same.  Really, our choice.

I urge you to take good advantage of what is available on this website... .read... .do your homework... .keep sharing with us how things are going.  You will learn a lot in reading the posts of others and, in turn, others will learn from you.

Once again... .welcome!

Huat
