Title: I have noticed BPD characteristics in members of my family and myself Post by: rahula on May 24, 2018, 07:35:04 AM Hello
I have a parent with BPD and it has caused a lot of suffering for my parent, for me, our relationship, and my relationship with others. Since this was my primary care giver and I have noticed BPD characteristics in other members of my family and myself, I believe that I suffer from BPD as well. I'm looking for a community to help. I just signed up and I'm not really sure what to post here. I hope this is the community that I'm looking for. best wishes Rahula Title: Re: I have noticed BPD characteristics in members of my family and myself Post by: heartandwhole on May 24, 2018, 07:41:38 AM Hi rahula,
Welcome to the community! You've found a safe place to work through your relationship with your parent. Members here understand what it's like to have family with BPD and other disorders. There are lots of resources and tools that you can take advantage of on the site as well. Which parent/family members do you suspect have BPD? What kind of behaviors are the most difficult for you to handle? When you can, tell us a bit about your situation. We're here for you. heartandwhole Title: Re: I have noticed BPD characteristics in members of my family and myself Post by: Harri on May 24, 2018, 08:30:46 AM Hi rahula! let me join with heartandwhole to say welcome to the community! As she said, you have found a great place to work through your relationship with your parent but also to look at and work on your own behaviors. It is not uncommon at all for those of us raised by disordered parents to have our own issues to work through. The good news is that you recognize that and that is the most important thing for change. The other good news is that we get it here. We are all dealing with a family member with BPD or BPD traits so you will have plenty of company on your journey.
Heartandwhole asked some great questions so I won't repeat them or ask more... .yet. I do want to say that you can do a lot of healing here. I have found so much support, understanding and yes, have even been challenged to look deeper when working on my own issues. It has been hard work but knowing that I have this place to come to was vital. People here were able to help me when I was unable to go to T and even now that I can go, they still support me and help me work on things in addition to the work I do with my therapist. All that to say that I think you have found the right place to be so I hope you feel free to explore, ask questions and post as you feel the need or want to. Take care. |
