Title: Radical acceptance
Post by: juju2 on May 28, 2018, 10:17:25 AM
Hi everyone,

Thank you for your support.

I am experiencing radical acceptance.

thats the space i am in.  Am going to see one of my closest friends today.

When i look at all my blessings, i have many.  Career, roof over my head, friends, this community, health, Higher Power, a twelve step program, three cats i love, ability to see my part--after meditation,
blue sky above, a cause i believe in, ability to make a difference.  I can go on.   There is much more.

I need to focus on all the positive that i have today.

thank you all.  j

Good Morning juju2,

What you describe is indeed "good medicine".

My Grandmother used to tell me to do the same thing, "count your blessings"... .and pretty soon, things are not as bad as we thought.

I still to this day do this when the storm clouds gather over my head, and things start "going south"... .maybe a form of detachment, but to be able to look at things in a different light, when the world is crashing down around us, that's a good thing, a great survival coping mechanism.

You are on the right track ~> !

Sending good karma our way !

Grandmas knew what they were talking about.   |iiii

Hi juju,

That's really great for you. Your post reminded me that I still have many blessings to count. Recently I have been completely submerged in the bad things. There is something to be thankful for every day.

I had a different but equally meaningful experience with Radical Acceptance. For me, it helped me to finally accept the truth that my wife was sick. I had "known" for quite a while, but knowing and truly accepting are two truly different things. It was only once I radically accepted this very painful truth that I was able to do anything about the situation.
