Title: First Post-looking for clinician to home visit, help us with a behavioural plan
Post by: Hope16 on May 29, 2018, 01:31:27 PM
Hello All,
This is my first post. My husband and I have a 20 year old daughter with PTSD, depression in remission with ketamine infusions, and BPD. We struggle every day because we never know which daughter we will get: kind, helpful, creative, loving daughter or aggressive, disrespectful, irrational daughter. She has a team of professionals and progress has been made. Given her age now we need help in managing her behaviors at home. We live near Stony Brook  University (Long island, NY). We are looking for a clinician to do home visits to help us with a behavioral plan. We are also longing to meet other families
in our neighborhood we can connect with. Thank you for any recommendations you may have.

Hello Hope16 and welcome, I just want to say how sorry I am to hear what you are struggling with, how awful it is for you not knowing from day to day how your daughter is going to be. You truly are walking on eggshells.

I’m sorry, I live in UK so am unable to offer any help with your request in finding families in your neighbourhood to connect with. I too was wanting to find a support group in my area but there was nothing. I was so glad when I found this site, it really helps to engage with people here who understand what you are going through. I hope that you take advantage of that x

hi Hope16

Welcome to the BPD family.  As Feeling Better says, it must be difficult to juggle such extremes in behaviour  , however it's clear that you really love your daughter and are wanting to support her as best you can |iiii.  It's also great that you have reached out to others as many of us here relate to exactly what you are going through, especially being pulled from pillar to post.  It can be utterly exhausting.  You will definitely find much support here for you and I encourage you to continue to share and engage in the ongoing conversation.

I don't live in your area, however hopefully others will chime in an be able to provide some assistance.

Take care
Merlot
