Title: Need treatment facility recommendations Post by: Luvtaytot on July 02, 2018, 10:05:41 AM 24 year old Daughter with BPD, binge drinker then won't, takes drugs occasionally, then won't take drugs. Her life is a mess and just getting worse. Her counselor, psychiatrist want her in residential. We did that last summer and because the facilities did NOT know how to deal with her she was 'kicked' out, dropped at a local hospital and came home with a neurological condition that she should have been treated for and she was ignored bounced to 3 different facilities. The last one, JourneyPure, medically neglected her and said she was drug seeking when she really DID have something wrong. Dumped her at a hospital and then told her she was a failure. They said they treated BPD... .but they didn't know how to do it. We find out in 3 weeks if the damage to her eyes is permanent.
Is there anywhere that can help her? Help to get her the right meds... .and not just load her up on benzos? We would love a longer term program, because that is what she needs, if that is affordable... .we are just barely average Americans. It is either this or the street at this point of her disease. She has no where to go or nothing else to loose, she has no car, no friends and works at a dive bar that we told her she has a week to quit. We have been dealing with this for 11 years. I can't and won't do it anymore. It is like watching her die—a second at a time... . Thank you. *hi* and welcome to you. We have been dealing with this for 11 years. I can't and won't do it anymore. It is like watching her die—a second at a time... . I'm glad you've jumped in and joined us here for support, 11 years and little progress is heart breaking. Luvtaytot I hope the resources and parents support and friendship give you hope things can change for the better. Here we gradually learn how to help ourselves and by that our children. It's really hard dealing with physical and mental, so often there seems no joined up understanding across what appears to be a medical divide, I'm very sorry to hear your daughter had to go through what she is and hope her eyesight is not permanently damaged. At my daughters lowest, her most vulnerable the care my daughter received for physical care, operation was a shocking eye opener how little some understand. That said I've been very fortunate my DD's outpatient DBT team (I'm in the UK, 14 months) were excellent. Does your daughter want to get better, manage her BPD? We look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you. WDx Title: Re: Need treatment facility recommendations Post by: Feeling Better on July 02, 2018, 06:36:53 PM Hello Luvtaytot,
I would like to join wendydarling in welcoming you here. I am so sorry to hear of what’s been happening with your daughter, you sound like you’re at your wits end, and no wonder, what with everything that you are going through. How dreadful it is about your daughter’s eyesight, I sincerely hope that you get good news regarding the permanency of the damage to her eyes. Three weeks can seem like an eternity at times like this. You say that you have told her that she has a week to quit her job at the dive bar, is there any reason for giving her a week to do this? I am also wondering what will happen to her if she does do this, how will she be able to support herself financially? |
