Title: Hello: Daughter has BPD, thinking maybe my spouse too? Plus NPD.
Post by: flanat on July 21, 2018, 09:13:53 AM
My first post. I searched for the WTOParentsOfPBs but it seems that website is no longer active. I am happy to be here. Our daughter was diagnosed with BPD at 19, among other mental disorders. She will be 21 in November. The signs were there, I just didn't know what they were. BPD coexists with her other mental health challenges so it makes it difficult for me to know where she is at in any given moment. She has been in therapy and treatment off and on for four years (two addressing BPD.) She is back living with us for two weeks now after finishing her treatment. She is learning new ways to cope and handle her anger. Through this struggle, I beginning to think my spouse also has BPD/Narcissism. It is a double whammy. Trust me, I am not perfect either. But it is nice to know I can seek information and support when I need it. :)

Hi flanat,

*welcome*

Looks like you may want to post on this board for Bettering Relationships as well as the board for Parents.

Glad to have you with us - we're here for your "double whammy".

You will find the more you post and get to know folks here and share your thoughts on your own threads and post on others you will gain quite a lot of insight into your situation as well as help others.

Oh yes, you disclose above you are not perfect... .You are well ahead of many us having discovered one of the big secrets around here.  We need to work on ourselves a bit too and try to at least not make things worse. It makes a big difference to gain understanding and operate from a stronger place with our own mental health.

For this board, may I ask, what makes you think your spouse has BPD and may also be NPD?

wishing you peace, pearl.
