Title: How to find a reputable for therapist for my BPD husband
Post by: lonely38 on July 22, 2018, 02:14:32 PM
My husband is coming to terms with the fact that he now believes he has BPD.  He has been to one therapist but is wondering if the one he found is the 'right' one.  Is there a site we can go to that we can research for therapists in our area that are qualified to help with BPD?

Hello lonely in co

I can understand your husband questioning if he has the right support, I'm glad he is reaching out to find the right therapy for him. DBT has worked for my daughter, 14 months out patients, she was also offered schema and mentalisation at the time, her choice was DBT. I'm in the UK. Perhaps  consult your local NAMI to help identify your local resources? May that help you?

Try checking out this link: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists

Another suggestion is to Google something like: therapists and DBT and BPD and the area you live in, and plenty of resources should come up. Also, look at DBT web sites, and contact info if there are no therapist listings to ask if they can recommend someone in your area.

It's great that he's acknowledging it and that you are supporting him in looking for the most appropriate therapy. Good work!  |iiii
