Title: DIL signs of PPO Post by: Cat Lily on July 27, 2018, 05:42:22 AM My daughter in law has been checked into a mental facility displaying paranoid personality dispersed type characteristics. My son is confused and is trying his best to cope. Thankfully, they do not have any children. They are about 28ish, young! I am feeling lost as how to help bcs the DIL thinks we (extended family) are in the mafia, so we cannot go to where they live and offer any help. The literature I have read does not sound hopeful for a good future. I am needing some positive information about this condition. Is there anything hopeful out there?
Title: Re: DIL signs of PPO Post by: zachira on July 27, 2018, 06:55:03 AM I am sorry to hear about your DIL. The good news is she is getting help. With treatment things can get better, though it often takes time. The most important factor in whether people with serious mental health issues get better is family support. Learn everything you can about your DIL's challenges with mental health, and offer to accompany your son to any meetings with those who are treating your DIL. Can you tell us how you found this site and what made you choose to post here? Do keep us posted and let us know how we can be the most helpful.
Title: Re: DIL signs of PPO Post by: Harri on July 27, 2018, 10:42:21 AM Hi Cat Lily and welcome to the board. I am glad you found us. You will see that many people are here because they have an in-law with a either a personality disorder or difficult behaviors that affect the whole family so you are not alone.
Do you know if she has always displayed paranoid tendencies or is this a sudden onset of symptoms? How long has she been in the hospital? Like zachira said, the good news is she is getting help and seems to have a supporting family to back her up (if she can allow it). Do you think your son would benefit by coming to this site? We do have a few posters whose spouse has paranoid features that they are dealing with. Just a thought. Please share more of your story when you can. Welcome to our online family! You will find lots of support here and people who really care. I cannot imagine the stress you all are going through right now. How are you doing today? Is your DIL still in the hospital? What are some of the behaviors you see if her that lead you to believe she may have BPD? Looking forward to hearing more from you. |iiii Wools Title: Re: DIL signs of PPO Post by: Learning2Thrive on July 28, 2018, 09:51:39 PM Hi Cat Lily!
