Thanks for sharing this. My daughter was diagnosed July 2015. Blaise Aguirre got her on the road to DBT, she read 'Mindfulness for Borderline Personality Disorder: Relieve Your Suffering Using the Core Skill of Dialectical Behavior Therapy', a relief someone understood her and she could help herself. She promotes his book three years on to the BPD community for those who're looking to read a helpful book, life changing for my daughter. It’s pretty rare to hear about recovery stories. I’m glad that your daughter is taking the steps to better things. You must be very relieved.

I read an interesting note from someone yesterday who prefers to use the term reclamation instead of recovery. Interesting, as that's what I've seen my DD do, she's reclaiming her life, a life worth living.
Hope. WDx Title: Re: Video | Having a Life Worth Living ~ Blaise Aguirre MD Post by: Skip on August 07, 2018, 03:36:26 PM This is from our front page. It's a good perspective article and video.
Excerpt Excerpt There is strong evidence from the McLean Study of Adult Development (Harvard University) that 40% of patients with borderline personality disorder remit after 2 years, with 88% no longer meeting the criteria after 10 years(1). In the Collaborative Longitudinal Personality Disorders Study, findings suggest that about one-half of those who meet Borderline Personality Disorder on admission no longer meet DSM-IV criteria 24 months later(2). There are a number of well-designed controlled studies in support of effective treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder patients such as dialectical behavioral therapy(3) and other more straightforward cognitive behavioral therapies(4), to psychodynamic and psychoanalytically based therapies, which include mentalization-based therapy(5) and transference-focused psychotherapy(6), to the blend of cognitive and dynamic therapies in schema-focused therapy(7). And there is recent work with Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving (STEPPS) as an adjunct to treatment that is showing great promise. https://bpdfamily.com/content/treatment-borderline-personality-disorder Title: Re: Video | Having a Life Worth Living ~ Blaise Aguirre MD Post by: wendydarling on August 08, 2018, 04:08:50 PM Thanks Skip.
