Title: My daughter’s rages are getting worse and more dangerous.
Post by: momgoingnuts on August 08, 2018, 05:09:04 PM
I have a 16 year old daughter with many BPD traits. She is in weekly therapy and a weekly DBT group. Her rages are getting worse and more dangerous. We think we are doing all we can for her but are not sure. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Hello there mwowoingnuts

Welcome to the son/daughter board here at bpdfamily.

I am sorry to hear that your sixteen year old daughter has many BPD traits, has she received a diagnosis? How long has she been in therapy?

You say that her rages are getting worse and more dangerous, how frightening for you to be witnessing this. In what way are they dangerous?

We think we are doing all we can for her but are not sure. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

I understand your uncertainty, it can be so difficult knowing what to do when you have a child with BPD, sometimes it can feel like whatever you do or don’t do is wrong. In order to offer other suggestions, could you tell us what you are currently doing for her and how that is working?

Look forward to hearing more from you x

Hi mwowoingnuts

Along with Feeling Better, I welcome you here.

It is very worrying when our children rage and can be quite frightening. You say she is in DBT group therapy, is something happening there that is triggering her? Maybe teasing thay out when she is calm may assist your understanding and ability to help her.

I am currently reading "I Hate You Don't Leave me". From what I can gather there are many optiins for therapy and it is as much about having targeted therapy as it is support and consistency from loved ones. Possibly you can explore options here as it is an extended journey.

Have you been able to read information on the board to the right |--->

I encourage you to keep talkingwith us as we help you through the crisis and beyond.
