Title: Financial Responsibility question - USA/California
Post by: DremNCWgrl on August 29, 2018, 03:03:34 PM
I'm not sure if any of you can answer this but since y'all have been through SO much, I'm hoping someone knows something.    My dd19 is currently covered through my employer sponsored BCBS insurance plan. Back in April we began a new circle of crisis and those medical bills are starting to roll in.  My question is - are my husband and I financially responsible for those? Most of them have only her name on the actual bill but since I'm the insurance subscriber, am I tied into them?  Basically, if I leave them unpaid so the responsibility is hers, will it ding my credit? Or do I need to pay them?

Thanks in advance for any info or anecdotes!

PS: When describing her on this board, should I be listing her as diagnosed or undiagnosed? Her doctors have all told us this is what she has but they don't want to "label" her.  I just want to make sure I'm being as accurate as possible.

I can't answer your insurance questions as I'm a UKer. I can however assure you this site is safe, this is an anonymous forum.

Hi there DremNCWgrl

You say that your DD19 is covered through your insurance plan, does that mean that she is actually named on your plan? I don’t know whether you would be liable for her bills, are you able to check it out with your insurers?

She is named as an insured, I am the subscriber. I didn't ask them, I just kind of assumed they would tell me I am as a standard answer.
