Title: Quote about helping others
Post by: Educated_Guess on August 30, 2018, 10:55:53 AM
I ran across this quote today and wanted to share it with our family:

“I love it when people who have been through hell walk through the flames carrying buckets of water for those still consumed by the fire.”

Says a lot about empathy,  eh?

Educated_Guess,

When you’ve been there and you know how it feels to be in the flames, you want others to have sanctuary, too.

Thanks for sharing,

This is a beautiful sentiment.   There's a lot of that going on here on these boards. That type of empathy and support is a huge part of why so many of us here are surviving these horrible situations, one day and one kind word at a time.

(Thank you for sharing this!)

Great quote, Educated_Guess.  Thanks for sharing.

Everyone, what role do you most identify with?  Are you a water-bucket-carrier?  Consumed by fire?

FWIW, I identify strongly with both.  When I was in the relationship with my BPD-ex I was DEFINITELY carrying water.  With age, though, I've learned it's a gift to give others the chance to carry water for awhile.  This has allowed me to connect more with fire, feeling consumed and needing help.
