Title: A remnant to share
Post by: JNChell on September 01, 2018, 12:05:28 PM
This is from the birthday card from the (my) family that took me in after the final break with S3’s mom. After my final breakdown. Hope you all get something from it.

The Oak Tree

A mighty wind blew night and day. It stole the oak tree’s leaves away. Then snapped it’s boughs and pulled it’s bark, until the oak was tired and stark. But still the oak tree held it’s ground, while other trees fell all around. The weary wind gave up and spoke, “How can you still be standing, Oak?” The oak tree said, “I know that you can break each branch of mine in two, carry every leaf away, shake my limbs, and make me sway. But I have roots stretched in the earth, growing stronger since my birth. You’ll never touch them, for you see, they are the deepest part of me. Until today, I wasn’t sure of just how much I could endure. But now I’ve found, with thanks to you, I’m stronger than I ever knew.

That is beautiful.  To me it speaks of the importance of having a good solid foundation upon which to build.  We on this board did not really get that but we are building our own.  Our determination to remain standing and to continue learning and healing is what is going to see us through.

thanks for sharing that.

Hi JNChell,

I like it a lot. What a great picture when you think of the roots spreading out, far beyond anyone's earthly eyes can see, roots that support and sustain you.

There's a great verse in the Bible that supports this:

"For he will be like a tree, planted by the waters, pushing out It's roots by the stream; he will have no fear when the heat comes, but his leaf will be green; in a dry year he will have no care and will go on giving fruit." Jer. 17:8
