Title: What is something you’re not doing that you’d like to do?
Post by: Cat Familiar on October 26, 2018, 12:36:24 PM
I often have more ideas than energy. And sometimes my energy is diminished by being in relationship with a partner who has BPD. In my case, he’s quite functional, but he gets moody sometimes and that can be draining for me.

Now I know many folks are dealing with major daily crises and I know what that’s like, having previously had a marriage to a pwBPD on steroids.

But what I’m referring to is really minor in comparison, but still enervating.

So whether you’re in a relationship with someone who creates lots of chaos, or whether you’re just somewhat tired from being around someone who kills the buzz, what is something you’d like to do, but aren’t doing?

I’ll start off by saying I’ve got a hankering to bake bread— whole wheat honey oatmeal bread.

I want a "shed day"... .a "shop day", need to overhaul my chainsaw... .

I want to spend the day, or a few consecutive days out in the shop, "tinkering"... .

... .and I want to start building model airplanes again.

*And more fishing!

Photography. I am a professional phtog and also work as a programmer. when I have any energy it is for the kids or for the programming work. I just want to take a day, go on a hike see something amazing and create some images.

Ugh - I feel that it is never going to happen. The worst part is that I think it could if I could convince myself that I can do it.

I haven't gotten around to baking bread yet, but I've been doing some other things that I've had on the back burner.

I managed to sell a wood stove today that was sitting in the garage and I'm putting a western saddle, that I haven't been using, on consignment this week.

I'm largely done with winterizing my irrigation systems. Just making incremental progress on some issues is making me feel like the dam is breaking and I've got more energy to do some things that bring me enjoyment.

Sometimes I expect way too much of myself or I expect to have time and energy to get a huge project done all at once. Now I'm trying to be kinder to myself and be OK with accomplishing part of my goals, knowing that tomorrow is another day.

What can you do to give yourself some space and time to get a fraction of something done that you really want to do?
