Title: M.I.A.
Post by: ricaaires on November 15, 2018, 10:33:06 PM
Am I alone in feeling this way?  That every time I'm around my BPD son, who never asks anything of me, goes on in diatribes about his own life, who takes money from me but gives nothing in return, he is like only half a person. Not all there. I shake my fist at this illness--it has robbed me of a son I could hug and relate to fiercely and meaningfully. For now, it's all on his terms.

Hello, ricaaires. Welcome to BPD Family  :hi:

I'm here to tell you that you are definitely not alone in feeling angry at BPD!

I'm so sorry that your relationship with your son is all on his terms. I like how you ended that sentence with "for now."  It tells me you have hope for a better future.

You've come to the right place for support. I stumbled in just a short while ago and have been pouring my heart out ever since.

How old is your son?

~ OH

Hey there,
It is extremely painful and it's important that you see it's not personal. The BPD illness robs us of many things on both ends. Not just you but him too. It's hard to see the future when it feels extremely certain it's forever. It's not. Things do change. I am a child of a BPD mother and now a newly diagnosed BPD daughter. I can say now that I have healed in some areas and others I still have to. That's okay. You aren't alone. Please reach out if needed. Hugs
