Title: Therapy Options Post by: KHC_33 on November 23, 2018, 10:08:50 PM Hey everyone,
I know this isn't for everyone but I wanted to share my own personal experience with a service that I recently used. Few days ago I knew I was at a breaking point. I have been dealing with a lot. Medically, financially and with the new diagnosis of my 18 year old daughter having BPD. I am a victim of narcissistic abuse from my BPD Mom, it brought a lot of old wounds and flashbacks. I had reached a breaking point. I contacted Better Health - online counselling. www.betterhelp.com At first I was pretty frustrated. I forgot that it was American Thanksgiving. I was paired up with 1 therapist and I just didn't like her profile. I changed therapists and I waited 2 hours with my message marked urgent. I thought screw it. I couldn't get the therapist I wanted because of what I was looking for - she wasn't one that was matched with my description. I cancelled my subscription and realized the payment had already gone through. I thought well that's a waste. I logged back in. Having no therapist in tow. My emotions were extremely high, intense and raw. Within 25 mins I had a therapist contact me. She asked if I could do a session that day. I was heading out - I had a client to work with. She told me to message her as soon as I got back. I did. She was extremely compassionate. I was like well okay it is my first session. My account is for unlimited sessions - basically when you pay for unlimited you can utilize it and take full advantage of your treatment and manage what you are struggling with. I had my second session today. She had developed a plan. We would do sessions daily and check-ins daily. I am thinking who does this? Honestly I don't know any therapist that would be that available. Again, she is fantastic. She is recognizing things, hearing me. She knows I want to change and different things I need to explore and work on. The other thing is I am Deaf and in a wheelchair on bad days which I never know when it will be. Having therapist sessions in the privacy of my home has been exactly what I needed. No struggling for an interpreter (American Sign Language) and battling the winter weather with a wheelchair on a transit bus. If you haven't thought of it, I highly recommend trying it. They have financial aid if you need. I know people paying a ton for just one session a week. This site really aims to support and provide the service you need. Like I said it is not for everyone. I wanted to throw that out there as an option. Title: Re: Therapy Options Post by: Only Human on November 23, 2018, 11:19:35 PM Hi KHC_33 :hi:
I had no idea online therapy was an option. I'm so glad you found a way to get therapy that works for you and that you got hooked up with a therapist who is compassionate and already developing plans for you. Thanks for sharing your experience. ~ OH Title: Re: Therapy Options Post by: wendydarling on November 24, 2018, 07:23:35 AM Hi KHC_33
This is a great share, thanks! Did you just google and find? It's great to hear you've found a match with your therapist and they provide ASL I'm impressed they offer daily sessions, check ins cos sometimes that's what we need. And all from the comfort of your home Parents ask for recommendations of all sorts, some living in remote areas, this is a great find. Look forward to hearing how you get on. Having another person to add to your support system is wonderful. We have had several people ask about online counseling and I have never known what to say to them other than to check the online reviews.
I hope as you continue to post you will also update us about your counseling sessions as well. Take care |
