Title: Daughter 29 was diagnosed with BPD
Post by: penny52 on December 03, 2018, 01:26:00 PM
Hi, I haven't posted here for quite awhile, it has been quite the whirl wind with my D29. She just tried to kill herself and ended locked up for 10 days and now is in a rehab house for drug abuse for at least a month. She said they diagnosed with BPD, but are not treating her for that and have prescribed Lamictal. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with this drug and did it help. Thank you.

Hi penny52

I'm so sorry penny, it's every parents worst nightmare and we are her with you   , my DD was also offered drug, in her case alcohol treatment first, it set her on a good road to BPD treatment plan offered. My DD shared that the drug rehabilitation included some DBT skills like mindfulness, an introduction to DBT. I've no experience of Lamictal, what I can share with it is took 18 months to get the med and dose right for her, with ongoing support from psychiatrist and family, friends. As we know there is no med for BPD for co-morbid anxiety, depression, mood disorders, sleeping... .my DD is on four. There is treatment for BPD.

What's been happening penny and how are your GC and you coping? Let us know how we can support you, keep reaching out, we're all here for you and listening.

Hi Wendydarling , the grand kids are doing good, the youngest (6) went back to live with her dad. And I still have the nine year old living with me. She is quite the trip, and is currently writing a Harry Potter play. I hope my daughter will continue to seek treatment after she released, one the old one day at time game, thanks and have a good day!
