Title: Songs to detach too
Post by: Coastered on December 14, 2018, 02:21:56 PM
Not sure if it's been posted before apologies if it has but I've been playing one song a lot lately and it sums up everything for me it's spooky.

This ain't a love song - Scounting for Girls

https://youtu.be/UAYJgTdZRw0

Every night I remember that evening
The way you looked when you said you were leaving
The way you cried as you turned to walk away
The cruel words and the false accusations
The mean looks and the same old frustrations
I never thought that we'd throw it all away
But we threw it all away.

And I'm a little bit lost without you
And I'm a bloody big mess inside
And I'm a little bit lost without you
This aint a love song this is goodbye (ooh)
This aint a love song this is goodbye (ooh)

I've been lost, I’ve been out, I've been losing
I've been tired, I'm all hurt and confusion
I've been mad, I'm the kind of man that I'm not
I'm going down, I'll be coming back fighting
I may be scared and a little bit frightened
But I'll be back, I'll be coming back to life
I'll be coming back to life

And I'm a little bit lost without you
And I'm a bloody big mess inside
And I'm a little bit lost without you
This aint a love song this is goodbye (ooh)
This aint a love song this is goodbye (ooh)

Whoo
And you can try (you can try)
And you can try but you'll never keep me down
And you can try (you can try)
And you can try but you'll never keep me down

La la la la la la la
(I wont be lost, I wont be down)

And I'm a little bit lost without you
And I'm a bloody big mess inside
And I'm a little bit lost without you
This ain't a love song this is goodbye

It's alright (It's alright) cause you can try but you'll never keep me down
It's alright (It's alright) I may be lost but you'll never keep me down
You can try (you can try) you can try but you'll never keep me down
You cant try (you can try) I know I'm lost but I'm waiting to be found
you'll never keep me down
you'll never keep me down
never keep me down

... .‘Time to Move On’, / Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers

https://m.you.tube.com/watch?v=u5o582N3wOQ

It's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It's time to move on, it's time to get going

Broken skyline, movin' through the airport
She's an honest defector
Conscientious objector
Now her own protector

Broken skyline, which way to love land
Which way to something better
Which way to forgiveness
Which way do I go

It's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It's time to move on, it's time to get going

Sometime later, getting the words wrong
Wasting the meaning and losing the rhyme
Nauseous adrenalin

Like breakin' up a dogfight
Like a deer in the headlights
Frozen in real time
I'm losing my mind

It's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It's time to move on, it's time to get going... .

When I was going through a phase when I was particularly angry and resentful about my relationship with my ex BPD love, I used to listen to a song on my Pandora that kept coming up called Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri. Yikes.

Then the song by Rihanna called "I love the way You Lie"  would come on and I'd really turn up the volume.

But then I realised I need to stop listening to songs like that, cuz it got me riled up! And I didn't want to be angry.

And then that song came on today from Lady Gaga from the movie A Star is Born... .I'll Never Love Again. Yeah, well, can't listen to that on bad days again! LOL

Can't play in the U.S.

Here was one of mine.

And We Run https://youtu.be/awvqIi427_A

It burns into your heart, the darkness that you fear
You were never free, and you never realized
And love, is a word you've never heard
Your heart is cold cause it burns, the desire to leave the mind

Take your breath til nothing's left
Stars of life upon your chest
And I know you wherever you go

And we run and we don't look back
And we run til we've had enough
And we run, tell me how to run
And we run, til we break down
And we run til we fall apart
And we run til we've had enough

Don't blink, you'll miss it
Lift up your head. We gotta get gone
Yeah, we outta here
Don't blink, you'll miss it
Lift up your head
Too late, we gone
Yeah, we outta here

And we run, for this killing love
And we run, tell me how it's enough
And we run, far ahead we go

Hi all, I posted this once before a while ago, but here’s the song that best captures it for me: Dylan’s Most of the Time

Somehow it expresses the reality of a loss that’s dealt with yet still carried.

"Most Of The Time"

Most of the time
I'm clear focused all around
Most of the time
I can keep both feet on the ground
I can follow the path
I can read the signs
Stay right with it
When the road unwinds
I can handle whatever
I stumble upon
I don't even notice
She’s gone
Most of the time

Most of the time
It’s well understood
Most of the time
I wouldn't change it if I could
I can make it all match up
I can hold my own
I can deal with the situation
Right down to the bone
I can survive
And I can endure
I don't even think
About her
Most of the time

Most of the time
My head is on straight
Most of the time
I'm strong enough not to hate
I don't build up illusion
Till it makes me sick
I ain't afraid of confusion
No matter how thick
I can smile in the face
Of mankind
Don't even remember
What her lips felt like on mine
Most of the time

Most of the time
She ain't even in my mind
I wouldn't know her if I saw her
She's that far behind
Most of the time
I can't even be sure
If she was ever with me
Or if I was ever with her ... .

Most of the time
I'm halfway content
Most of the time
I know exactly where it all went
I don't cheat on myself
I don't run and hide
Hide from the feelings
That are buried inside
I don't compromise
And I don't pretend
I don't even care
If I ever see her again
Most of the time

Roosevelt - Moving On

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4FWJmHfLC0

Moving on
So I just see this on my own
Just let me go
You never saw this in my eyes before
You're moving on
You decided to go on your own
Just let me know
That you can feel the way you did before
Moving on
So I just see this on my own
Just let me go
I got out of it to reach for more
You're moving on
You decided to go on your own
Just let me know
I'm not the reason that you came before
Moving on
