Title: Daughter 10 years old showing signs of BPD Post by: Rootietoot2 on December 19, 2018, 04:24:30 PM We have had our daughter since she was 3 (great niece). Very outgoing. She has been through a lot, sexual abuse by maternal uncle since infancy, she was neglected, physically and mentally abused, abandoned. We noticed unusual behaviors for awhile got her evaluated and was diagnosed with RAD, severe PTSD, ODD, IED, and OCD. Over the years we have overcome many of these traits. Now at 10 yo we are showing signs of BPD. We are exhausted (as I am sure she is), we have been in therapy with her since she was 3. We are trying to find new ways on how to get through this so she can overcome or adapt. She is receiving emdr therapy and cognitive therapy as well. We all seem to be in a rut and not advancing or overcoming any of these new traits at all. Hoping to find and understand what we can do

I am not surprised you are exhausted, and I'll bet emotionally as well as physically. You all have a lot to deal with and it is both heartbreaking to know she is suffering so but heartwarming to know you care and support her so well. We have many tools here that can help significantly in terms of helping her feel heard and understood as well as helping you cope. A lot of our parents have benefitted greatly from posting on the board. I hope as you get comfortable and settle in that you share more details of your story and post more.
