Title: Abbreviations Post by: CrazyInIdahoForN on January 02, 2019, 01:28:18 AM Hi. Could somebody give me a rundown on the abbreviations commonly used in these groups? For instance, I know BPD refers to borderline personality disorder. However, for example, I don't know what "DD33" means. I did a search for a key, but came up with nothing.

And thank you for this thread! I joined almost a year ago but often find threads I don't fully understand because of strange abbreviations I can't find on Google. I think s/o means significant other and pwBPD means partner or person(?) with borderline - hope someone can help with all the other meanings, that would be really helpful! pwBPD = person with... . upwBPD would be undiagnosed person with BPD and variants! for example ugfwBPD : undiagnosed gf D# or S#, like D9 is daughter, age 9; S15 would be son, age 15. doubles I guess would be Grand-daughter/son? (as in, my daughters daughter) SIL, DIL, MIL, FIL: in-laws, (Person: son, daughter, mother, father)-inlaw T is therapist NC no contact (not talking, answering calls, not reaching out etc) DBT/CBT: Dialectic/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Those just the ones I know off the top of my head, any in particular you're interested in/having trouble with? Maybe an admin or similarly experienced member could help with a resource to navigate this. I live in Idaho with my udwBPD husband (almost 69 yrs old) of 12 years. I have discovered on my own that not reacting works better than trying to explain. Welcome to Oz is a good name for this site, because it certainly is baffling. I would dearly love to get him in treatment, but not on the horizon for now. I'm scheduled to start counseling on my own, and he is in a snit because "a husband and wife should always go to counseling together ". Been there, done that and it no doubt helped, but I dont think the counselor ever really saw the borderline stuff out on display. I've started setting limits, and of course there is blowback. His birthday is in 2 weeks and he announced he doesn't want any presents from me or my almost grown kids (his stepchildren) because we dont really love him and it would just be acting "phony". I'm also forbidden from going to see him in the hospital if he has a heart attack, etc. Talk about splitting! I think really coming to grips with him being mentally I'll and not likely to get over it has helped. Some days I really don't know how I can go on like this, but tough to see a viable, and acceptable (to me) way out. So, one day at a time. Thanks for being there. |
