Title: Reporting progress
Post by: FaithHopeLove on January 07, 2019, 03:43:22 AM
Someone (sorry I don't remember who) recently posted that it is good to post here when things are going well not kust when we are in crisis so here goes. My DSwBPD 24 has not had a crisis since his first (dare I hope last?) hospitalization due to SH (cutting) in Nov. He has to leave his apartment in a month because the landlord is throwing him out due to complaints about pot smoke. (He uses and deals.) He found a house to rent. My husband agreed to cosign the lease. But some paperwork was missing so the deal fell through. The good news? DS actually took it in stride and is going out and looking at other houses and apartments without any drama. Other good news is he seems to be handling his breakup with his long term gf/fiance. I am sure he still hurts but not like he used to. Other good news is even though he quit going to the drug and counseling program and is still using he seems to have learned some skills there and is using less. Other good news is he is taking boxing lessons as a way of channeling his aggression. Punching the bag not the walls is good. So even though we have a way to go on this journey I already see signs of strength in DS and for that matter in me. If this gives hope to anyone else I will be happy.

That's a *lot* of progress! Really hope it all gives your son a more solid platform to build on and you continue to enjoy peace. It sounds like he may be developing some resilience and maybe (without explicitly articulating it) the consequence he is facing (the eviction) has prompted him to take responsibility -hence why he is looking for a new place?

I will keep everything crossed for you all xx

Oh dear, I'm glad he's alive - how scary!

I'm sending good vibes to you and DS, FaithHopeLove.
