Title: DBT, meds, hospitals, wellness checks, school Post by: Mom2MnM on February 01, 2019, 10:34:49 AM HI,
This is my first post. I'm new here. My 17 y/o daughter has BPD. After multiple hospitalizations, therapists, medications and 16 weeks of DBT, we enrolled her in a residential treatment school. She's definitely improving, but of course, I worry about when she comes home and ages out of these programs. Any suggestions or books that you all have found helpful for both my teen and me? I have been reading free excerpts from many BPD help books, but haven't found one that really registers. Thank you for your help. While I'm sorry for what brings you here, I'm glad you've reached out to us here. We have a lot of articles here, workshops, and of course a strong membership of those who are traveling similar journeys. It's great to hear that your daughter is improving in residential treatment - it sounds like you all have been through so much, I bet it's a big relief. I can understand the worry of "what next" when she returns home and especially as she gets older and ages out, as you say. It's great you're looking for books to read. When will your daughter be home? We have a book review section on this board, where other talk about the books they've read, sounds like just want you're looking for. Here's a link: Library: Book Club, previews and discussions (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?board=33.0) I'm sure other members will be along shortly to welcome you and to share which books they've found helpful. Again, welcome! I'm glad you're here. ~ OH Title: Re: DBT, meds, hospitals, wellness checks, school Post by: Mutt on February 01, 2019, 08:04:18 PM Hi Mom2MnM,
Id like to join Only Human and welcome you to the family. You’re D17 have been through a lot for a young adult, I’m sorry for the difficulties that you and your family are going through. Im reading a book right now called The Big Book on Borderlinr’e Personality Disorder the book is written from a person that recovered from BOD she says that she’s not a Dr she explains what happens to the brain but what I like about the book is that it comes from the perspective of someone that had BPD it helps you to understand more. Im glad that you have found us. You can check out the lessons on the top of this board. |
