Title: looking for a new psychiatrist...anyone in the tri-state? Post by: smilepretty on February 20, 2019, 09:59:27 PM My DD is about to be 19 and is seeing a very mediocre psychiatrist down in NC where she is in college. My daughter chose her as part of an exit process from therapeutic boarding school where she was until 10 days before college. She had 2 psychiatrists at boarding school but they can't continue to treat her bc she graduated. The psychiatrist we used prior to boarding school isn't my cup of tea, so we don't have anyone great right now, and certainly no one true professional steering our ship (does that exist? If it doesn't I feel like it should , like a case manager). We have thrown together the psychiatrist and therapist at school but its definitely not enough. I feel like we really need an MD who understands what meds she needs for the anxiety, ADD and depression that don't exacerbate the BPD. I'm sure you all know the song and dance.
We are about 60 miles from NYC in CT, so am willing to travel a bit, as my DD will be home all summer. If I can find someone we like, hopefully skype sessions back at school will work. Any recommendations? Pls private mail me if you don't want to make public reco's. Title: Re: looking for a new psychiatrist...anyone in the tri-state? I wonder if the two psychiatrists at the boarding school could recommend someone? They are familiar with your D, perhaps they could offer some guidance. Sorry I don't have anything solid to offer, I know how important it is to find a good fit and I wish you the best of luck! ~ OH Title: Re: looking for a new psychiatrist...anyone in the tri-state? My daughter was his patient several years ago, but he closed his practice in NYC and works full-time in CT. He is on staff at Silver Hill Hospital, but probably is also in private practice. I have total confidence in him. Good luck!
