Title: Mother in law: threats of violence.
Post by: Seven8 on March 08, 2019, 04:36:07 PM
Has anyone else been threatened with violence? Or in any other way? My mother in law has told me  “what goes around comes around.” “I will devote my f***** life to getting you” Has anything ever came of it?

Does she have a history of physical violence or aggression?

Yes, we have had a few posting members here this is a hint to lurkers who may want to come out and support who have dealt with violence as adults.

I'm not in law enforcement, nor an attorney, but I don't think those messages are explicit threats. You can always show them to someone at your local police station to ask for an opinion. You can do that without taking any action.

You could post this question with her quotes on avvo.com. You might elicit a helpful response from an attorney.

The drunk behaviors are just as concerning as the ones sober. You don't know what you're getting or what she might be capable of. This might be physically harmless, but if someone said that to me, I would in no way (in hell) let them around my baby or child alone. Ever.

Why would you want to hurt or damage the mother of your grandchild?

It might be a reply to give... or don't engage her threats, but document them. Your husband may have trouble standing up for himself given how oppressive and guilting she may have raised him, but he needs to stand in the gap for you (and his baby!).
