Title: Adult daughter hospitalised Post by: Maka58 on March 11, 2019, 11:51:09 AM Hello
I am new here . My middle daughter who is 37 was diagnosed two years ago with BPD. My oldest daughter had to have her taken in on a Form 1 as she had been making bizare statements for quite some time. In a fit of rage she hurt her then 14 yr old daughter , my Grandaughter. She left the hospital after the 72 hrs. Refused treatment. She has not seen a doctor or anyone . She has declined a great deal. Fast forward to now after many incidents including smashing a tenants car who parked in her spot. I had her staying here on a few occasions ,and realised she is in phycosis. Mental health visited many times but did nothing. Finally was able to get her in to The hospital after she threatened a friend saying The CIA was telling her to get a knife and stab her. She is completly against meds . Fighting every step of the way. The doctors are saying it is schizophrenia.? She is on a form 3 now its been 3weeks. She started invenga last week. I am not 100% convinced she is taking her meds. I am having anxiety about the future. I have Fibromyalgia , and am basically handling this alone . Anyone with advice on navigating this mental health system of ours? Title: Re: Adult daughter hospitalised Post by: Kwamina on March 12, 2019, 02:09:08 PM Hi Maka58 :hi:
The situation with your middle daughter sounds quite difficult indeed. BPD is a challenging disorder and your daughter sadly exhibits some troubling behaviors. I am very sorry your granddaughter got hurt back then as a result of her mother's behavior. How is your granddaughter doing now? How is her relationship with her mother? It's unfortunate that your daughter seems to refuse treatment. You mention she's completely against meds, do you know why? Has she perhaps expressed why she's against meds? Considering what you're dealing with, I understand how anxiety might be an issue for you. You also have your own health issues to cope with which also isn't easy. I am glad you reached out for support and advice here as we have many parents with BPD children who will be able to relate to your story. Take care and welcome to our online community The Board Parrot Title: Re: Adult daughter hospitalised Post by: No-One on March 13, 2019, 05:19:32 PM Maka58:
I'd like to join Kwamina in welcoming you. I'm so sorry about the difficulty you are having with your daughter. Do you live in the US? If so, which state? Excerpt She is on a form 3 now its been 3weeks. She started invenga last week. I am not 100% convinced she is taking her meds. Is your daughter currently on an involuntary hold? I think most people don't want to take the meds because of side effects. I think weight gain is a side effect that might scare some people away.Title: Re: Adult daughter hospitalised Post by: Isanni on March 13, 2019, 08:21:50 PM This sounds exhausting. My mom has fibrom and I understand how difficult that is - you want to do things but your body won't let you.
Maybe my kid is just on the mild side, but I sense that what you described - your daughter's 'actions' are more than just borderline symptoms? I hope the docs help very quickly in diagnosing her as that is what you'll need/she'll need in progressing. The safest place for her is in the hospital. The only thing you can do is demand they agree on a diagnosis and a treatment plan. |
