Title: New Member seeking info on RTC Post by: escorp on April 24, 2019, 03:29:22 PM My 12 year old sister is in need of a residential placement. Our parents are older and I am trying to help them locate a center. Her Dr says she needs DBT and suggested 3east. But she is a 5 months too young for it (you need to be 13). Does anyone have suggestions of programs? or point me to some threads? When I search, I keep finding questions and people saying they just sent their child not very few reflections on if it helped (I could also be searching wrong). Any advice welcome

I am not sure how much help I will be but I did find some threads that might be helpful to you. They are on our Son/Daughter board as that is where most of the discussion regarding RTCs take place. I do know from my reading here that McLean is supposed to be an excellent facility and I believe 3east is a part of that. I am wondering if you could contact them and ask them for an interim referral? In the meantime, here are some links that might be helpful to read: https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=114267.msg12588412#msg12588412 (scroll down a bit in this post to see the links) In the meantime, what other recommendations were made for your sister? Is she in school and receiving services through the school system? Your parents may want to post on our Son/Daughter board (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?board=4.0) as well. I hope this is helpful to you and your parents and I wish the very best to your whole family. Title: Re: New Member seeking info on RTC Post by: Harri on April 24, 2019, 04:00:33 PM Hi again. I just came across this program for children and adolescents, also part of McLean

Typing in 3east got me the above results Title: Re: New Member seeking info on RTC Post by: escorp on April 24, 2019, 04:20:19 PM Thank you for the tips! She is enrolled in a private school but she was actually placed on an involuntary hold this weekend. They like to directly transfer her to a residential program but that seems ambitious... Either way, I don't think she will be returning to school this year (numerous safety issues at her school). I'm actually an education attorney (If anyone has IEP/504 questions I can help with those!), so I know how to help there but I work with low-income clients & the only residential program I am familiar with is the one program in my area that accepts Medicaid and their waitlist in long (and the results I've seen are mixed...).
