Title: pwPTSD of spouse with STPD
Post by: Birddog on August 29, 2019, 07:38:51 AM
Fairly new to board, starting a new thread, maybe others working through similar issue. Looking for suggestions.

:help:I was diagnosed yesterday with PTSD, spouse has long history of issues related to STPD some BPD traits, she finished short inpatient stay June, took 2 weeks FMLA in July to stableize. Feel things are near normal.

Going through the awareness portion of PTSD,  not sure the severity,  do notice irritability, concentration issues at work, lack of sleep,  I am withdrawn for periods of time, situational flashbacks. In the process of working on addressing it.

This is good for my accountability:

Set up biweekly check ins with T
Downloaded Ptsdcoach app at request of T

Had age appropriate conversation with older children and spouse about diagnosis. Kids asked if could bother me when seemed preoccupied, said sure, probably good thing, remind me to get recentered.

This morning going in grabbed some protein, water to feed the brain.

Let my wife know going in to work a bit early, needed a little extra time to get centered. I am feeling extreme role reversal right now. I’ve been under intense stress for many years, not sure how deep this runs.
