Title: I have questions to explore.
Post by: Avocet on September 04, 2019, 06:07:46 PM
With this new-to-me information, I have questions to explore.  If my mother is a BP, am I?
Is this disorder trauma-based or neurological or both or neither?

Thanking you for sharing information.

No one here can say if you or your mother has BPD as we are not professionals. What we can do is help you look at your childhood events, the way you were raised and any of your own behaviors that may need to change.  We can also help you learn tools to help you cope and deal with any issues you may have.

Is BPD trauma based or genetic?  Studies have shown that about 40% of the cases are related to environmental issues with the rest being genetically based.   I direct answer to your question I would say it is both.

Does that help?  We can do more if you share more about yourself and your situation when you are ready.   |iiii

Hi Avocet,

I pulled links to a couple of discussions from the Library about the cause of BPD that you might be interested in.

It is my understanding that BPD is likely caused by nature and nurture.  I'll be interested to hear what you think after reading.

Just because your mom might have BPD doesn't necessarily mean that you do, just like because my mom has blue eyes doesn't necessarily mean that I will.  It's more complicated.

Are you concerned that you have BPD?
