Title: BPD Behaviors and Holidays
Post by: strugglingBF on December 09, 2019, 08:39:34 AM
Does anyone else notice a correlation with BPD episodes and holidays or events?  Seems like every Christmas me and my uBPgf are on the verge of breakup because the BPD gets so bad around this time.  Maybe it is just that the uneasiness never stops year round, so it is bound to happen around holidays.  But to me it seems to get more intense around major holidays.  It also seems to get more intense around my kids birthdays, but interestingly not around her kids birthdays.  I can't remember one of my kids birthdays since being with this GF that there wasn't major blow-up/tension the night before or the morning of.

Oh yes. Very common theme around here. Every year I've known my H (married for almost three, together for a year before that), his moodiness has increased big-time in November and December. Then, the early part of the next year, he's at his best, like it's a relief to get that over with. And yet, he always says Christmas is his favorite time of year. My H's difficulties with family issues are a big contributing factor there.

The holidays are notoriously difficult for people across the board so it stands to reason that they can hit pwBPD very hard. Any stress can crank up the BPD meter, actually. And, yes, birthdays can be a trigger, too.
