Title: Bpd traits no answers
Post by: Hopeful616 on January 18, 2020, 09:48:45 PM
Hi  my spouse has been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment but it has to be so much more.   I see all the traits of bpd and other mental illnesses.  Better or worse sickness or health we have been together for 35 years.    I see now he has always had these traits but it used to be manageable by him.  With early onset dementia he has no control no filter and no understanding of what is happening. I may be on the wrong site but I am looking for understanding. No one really understands around me and tells to give up and leave.   I am not depressed.  I own my own feelings but I need to learn how to set boundaries with him.  Any ideas.

Hi hopeful! I haven’t been on this site in several years and am so glad to see it is still active. It has been very helpful to me in the past.
You ask a very good question. I actually came back on here to see how much info relates to dementia. I suppose boundary setting and self care would be important under any circumstance. Even though dementia appears to be more of a “disease” than other mental illnesses (to some people) our interactions still need to carefully be managed with persons with dementia.
