Title: Wishing and Hoping
Post by: wavewatcher on January 24, 2020, 12:40:06 PM
Sometimes I feel so sad about the loss of what could be with my BPD/BPII 25dd. Today is one of those days. Nothing bad has happened recently; it just is.

When I'm with friends who have neurotypical daughters and listen to the "normal" conversations they have and have had with them I am envious. Not a good place to be. My Wisemind says take her for who she is; she is doing the best she can with what she has. Her dual dx is severe. Learn to appreciate what she can give.

But I can't help but remember how she has physically hurt me. I've become used to the verbal attacks over the years; they hurt but I've learned to not take them personally.
However, I have a visceral reaction when I think of her last 2 violent episodes and the potential for more. It feels like PTSD. I probably need EMDR.

It is so nice to have a place to share my feelings with people who truly understand. I can only hope that with her new medication, DBT sessions, my mindful approaches to her and continuing to care for myself our relationship will gradually improve.

Hi wavewatcher :hi:

How are things now?

Being subjected to violent abusive behavior isn't easy and indeed can be traumatic. Are you currently getting any professional support to help you deal with your trauma and how your daughter's behavior has affected you?

How has your daughter behaved since you made this post? Have there been any more violent episodes?

Hi wavemaster. I can really empathize with what you are saying. My 25 year old dual diagnosis ( bpd and addiction) son also suffers terribly and I grieve everyday for him. what gives me hope is knowing that people do recover both from mental illness and addiction. I myself am in recovery and I pray one day he'll be in recovery too.
