Title: Even when I just moved out of the bedroom he tried to commit suicide.
Post by: Katy Mercury on January 26, 2020, 11:53:36 PM
I have been married 47 years to what I thought was an alcoholic. Recently I discovered the book Walking on Eggshells, and I realize my husband must have
bpd. The alcoholism is a way to deal with it. The drinking is the most common
problem in the marriage. I have had many therapists and been advised to leave him, but even when I just moved out of the bedroom he tried to commit suicide.
I feel trapped. I can't tell people about my situation, and need someone to talk to about this.

Hi and welcome.

Your situation sounds difficult to say the least.  My first question for you is what do you want?  Do you want to stay in your relationship?  That will drive a lot of the decisions you have to make.  We can support you and try to help you navigate your way through your situation regardless though.  You do not have to deal with this alone anymore.

Is your husband in therapy by any chance?  Can I ask what happened when he tried to commit suicide?  did he go to the hospital?

I apologize for all of the questions here.  I am trying to get a better feel for how to help and support you even though many of my questions are about your husband.

I am glad you reached out for help and support here.  That takes a lot of courage and I can hear the pain in the words you wrote.
