Title: I'm new to understanding BPD Post by: heartbreaknyc on January 27, 2020, 09:26:16 AM Hello -
My husband was just diagnosed with BPD and is not very interested in learning about it or developing tools to manage his life. I feel so much despair and thirst for information and guidance on how to navigate my life and protect my young child from similar patterns. I'm not sure how this site works but interested in learning more... Thanks - HeartbreakNYC Title: Re: I'm new to understanding BPD Post by: WorksNeverDone on January 27, 2020, 01:54:00 PM Hi HbNYC,
I'm so sorry to hear that husband isn't interested in learning more or developing his tools...that really is heartbreaking. At the end of the day, you can only control yourself, so you are doing the right thing by educating yourself and looking to protect your children. In addition to the many wonderful resources on this site, I would highly recommend the book (I'm listenting to the audiobook) called "Loving Someone with Borderline Personality Disorder." The book takes a very loving look at what BPD is and how to navigate your relationship with your loved one with BPD. I want to second the book recommendation made by WorksNeverDone and give you a link to the book review we have here on the site: Loving Someone with Borderline Personality Disorder (https://bpdfamily.com/book-reviews/loving-someone-borderline-personality-disorder) What do you find the most difficult to deal with in terms of behaviors? Or are you more interested in learning about the disorder at this point? If yes to the latter a good place to start is here: How to get the most out of this site (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=334610.0) I hope you share more. We all work together to help each other learn and cope batter. Things can improve for you! |
