Title: micro mini movement Post by: toomanydogs on January 31, 2020, 09:14:14 AM lawyer got in touch with me yesterday & told me that my FIL thinks i am intentionally delaying this divorce.
i laughed. she didn't think it was funny. can i just say i need my tribe who understands irony & humor? anyway, after going back & forth, she emailed FIL's lawyer & said (much too politely IMHO) that TMD had suggested months back that it would be more beneficial to specify the topics that FIL doesn't want me to write about. best guess is FIL will come roaring back after a huge delay (that is his MO. wait & wait & wait and the come blustering & sputtering back about how unfair everyone is to him. insert expletive right about here.). after that huge delay, he will say no that won't work. and we will be back where we started. this time around, however, thanks to advice i've gotten here (thanks, Formflier),i will insist on language that gives up the right to sue and instead we will need to rely on mediation, which will fall under my state's jurisdiction. happy weekend, all. Arbitration is a slightly more formal and binding process -- most businesses have arbitration included in contracts.

Not sure...May depend on your state. The thing is, this crosses into your business and ability to make a living, so it gets into a gray area. It's not used very often in my area, but my lawyer mentioned it once as an option although he had reservations about it for my case. I didn't ask any further than that because I was perpetually watching my minutes with him.
