Title: Need help to get my BP partner out of my head
Post by: Recoverin Empath on February 01, 2020, 11:08:00 PM
Been married 16 years and this last year I told my Significant Other that I've been contemplating getting out of the marriage which sent her reeling into the arms of her narcissistic mother who has done everything she can to sabotage the marriage by intervening.  I have told her repeatedly that my wife and I need to discuss these issues and that she can help by encouraging her daughter to go to therapy with me.  My wife has finally gotten into therapy no thanks to the monster-in-law and hopefully we can make some progress.   I'm feeling a hard time maintaining good terms with the wife as she keeps counter parenting with our daughter which triggers me.  How do I keep from focusing and worrying about her destructive tendencies with our daughter while I work on building me so that I can be strong enough to enforce boundaries and continue with therapy?  :(

Can you give us some specific details?  It will help us get a better feel for what you are dealing with.  How do you currently respond when you are triggered?  What areas do you think you need to work on to get stronger?

*welcome*
