Title: My daughter has BPD Post by: Madison1972 on March 09, 2020, 09:20:31 PM Hello,
My teen daughter was diagnosed with “mild” BPD. She has 5 out of the 9 criteria. She’s going to be getting DBT treatment. I’m trying to find some support for myself so I can best parent her and make sure I am taking care of myself too so I’m not drained. I welcome and appreciate any input from parents that have gone through this and/or are currently going through this. Thank you, Madison Title: Re: My daughter has BPD Post by: FaithHopeLove on March 10, 2020, 10:02:25 AM Hi Madison Welcome to the group. I am glad you joined us Since your daughter's diagnosis is new I imagine you have a lot of questions. This is the right place to ask them. What do youbwsnt to know? You already know the most important thing which is the importance of self care. What are you doing in that area? Again welcome :hi:
Title: Re: My daughter has BPD Post by: Madison1972 on March 10, 2020, 10:26:17 PM Thank you. A few of my questions are:
1. Can a teen diagnosed with 5 of the 9 criteria for BPD be “cured” if they are motivated and receive proper treatment? 2. Has anyone had their child do the complete DBT program and if so, did you see a big difference at the end of the 4 modules? 3. Advice for parenting when the teen with BPD gets defensive and upset or mad when talked to about something they don’t want to talk about? (My child tries to end the conversation or put me on the defense etc) Any tips are appreciated. Thank you, Madison |
