Title: For those of you that have a partner on meds
Post by: Stella Blue on April 22, 2020, 01:38:05 PM
Hi all. This is just my second post and I hope to be more active. I’ve read through A LOT of your posts and related SO MUCH to them that I got overwhelmed. I’ll reply more as soon as I am able.

The question for now is this. My husband sleeps all the time. He sleeps until 2-3 in the afternoon and leaves me to do everything he’ll be up for 2 hours then take 2-3 hour nap. While this quiets his raging at me it does build resentment in me. But I wonder if it’s justified because he’s on large doses of antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and benzos. He may not be able to help it. Is this something you have experienced? I do think my life is better without the constant abuse. And he’s MUCH more stable when he’s awake. I feel like a jerk being upset that he does nothing and sleeps. But also the kids notice too. ‘Daddy’s always sleeping’. I have medical release to speak to his psychiatrist and he’s cautious to lower the antipsychotics because when he’s psychotic he’s scared the whole time. What I’m asking for is if anyone has dealt with this? What do you do?

My partner uses Benzo to help her sleep. The are commonly used as sleeping aids.

How long has he been taking these naps?

For quite some time. He’s been on the meds for over a year now. He always used to sleep in even when he knew that meant I took care of everything, but he at least had a job then? He hasn’t had a job since October. Obviously depression could be a factor?
