Title: New here and very despondant. Is there hope for our relationship?
Post by: JohnThy on April 25, 2020, 09:56:24 PM
Hi

I am new here.

My girlfriend was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, or so she said when we started dating. I think she lies a lot. The symptoms, for lack of a better word, did however not match up and I started researching. That is when I discovered BPD. I realised that even though she is not diagnosed she has every single one  of the markers for BPD i.e. splitting, accusations of infidelity, fear of being abandoned and irrational rages, to mention what comes to mind. I am almost 100% sure she is also not a rapidly cycling Bipolar sufferer and I say so only because I am not a psychiatrist. I started off with a lot of hope 6 months ago but I have become increasingly despondent as I am realising that she has/ almost certainly will cheat on me and/or leave me at some time. I am losing hope...The problem is that I am deeply in love with her or emotionally dependant on her approval due to years of emotional and physical abuse. I am however confident that it is the first and not the latter. She acknowledges that there is a problem and has agreed to go for evaluation, and therapy, but she has masterfully avoided it. I really want to make this work and I really want to help her and her daughter. Also I just need to talk...
Is there any hope?
